Stage 1: Sow Your Seeds (Last Week of March)
Gather small flowerpots, yoghurt pots, or mushroom containers (you can sow 6 seeds in a mushroom container).
Fill the pot(s) almost to the top with compost.
Make a small hole and place 1 seed in each hole.
Cover with compost, water lightly, and place on a sunny windowsill.
In a couple of weeks, you should see green shoots appear!
Keep the compost moist and talk or sing to your seedlings to encourage them.
Stage 2: Repot Your Seedlings
When seedlings are about 6cm tall and have 4 leaves above the first 2, itβs time to move them to larger pots.
If you have a greenhouse or polytunnel, place them there. Otherwise, keep them in a sunny spot.
Stage 3: Plant Out Your Sunflowers (Late April)
Your plants should now be strong enough for the garden.
They will thrive in garden soil but can also grow in large flowerpots.
Keep them well-watered and use a bamboo stick for support as they grow taller.
π Stage 4: Competition Time!
Measure and take a photo of your tallest sunflower plant.

π GOOD LUCK! We can't wait to see your sunflowers! π
